The Process - Bullseye

Bullseye animation - Brainstorm Media, Columbus, Ohio

This one was a lot of fun!

The client desired something with lots of action, and all of the cool tones and highlights associated with feature quality animation. Originally contracted for 2 1/2 seconds, it ballooned a little bit as we slowed the action down from the first rough tests, and the camera shake was going to be done at Brainstorm later - it's thrown in here as a best guess to complete the test.

The first step was to come up with a version of the mascot that was animation-friendly.

The client was enthusiastic about letting us re-work "Charlie", and was ecstatic with how he turned out.

Next came rough animation.

First was a 'pose test', just to get the timing of each move down, followed by a more fleshed out test, which while still quite rough smoothed the action out.

The first version with Charlie snorting three times was a bit too busy, so we took those out, and tried to strengthen his angry glances to each side, and the final snort.

Next all of the extra bits that were overlapping and following thru were animated (hair and necklace) followed by clean-up animation, and finally the effects (tones and highlights)   click to view final test
