Starting from a script or sketches, storyboards are the next stage, along with character design and art direction.
The storyboards and audio clips are edited together into an animatic, so everyone can see how the shots will flow together, work with the soundtrack, and get a good idea how the final output will look.
From there we begin rough animation, working with the director to get the right timing and personality into the characters and the overall piece. Great attention is paid to the style of movement, particularly when we're trying to emulate an already established lok or genre.
After that comes cleaning up the animation, where the characters are put "on model" and all of the details are added. Ink & Paint adds the final color and textures to the animated characters, then everything is put together with backgrounds and a full color render is output. |
